Why Your Shoulders Live Near Your Ears

"The body says what words cannot." — Martha Graham

Take a moment right now and notice your shoulders.
Chances are they've crept up towards your ears without you ever deciding to put them there.
That's not a posture problem. It's a nervous system problem.
When we're stressed, busy, or simply “on” for too long, the body holds that state in the tissue — shoulders lift, jaws clench, breath goes shallow. Over time, the pattern becomes the default.
Your body forgets what “off” feels like.

This is where assisted stretch comes in — and why it works differently to stretching on your own. When I guide you through PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) and trigger point work,
your body doesn't have to do the work of holding or releasing. You get to be fully supported while your nervous system slowly learns it's safe to let go.
Most people are stunned by how much range of motion returns once the guesswork of “am I doing this right” is removed. You're not fighting your body — someone else is simply showing it a different option.

A few signs assisted stretch might be exactly what you need:

• Your shoulders sit up around your ears, even at rest
• You “know” you should stretch but never actually do it alone
• You carry tension in the same one or two spots, no matter what
• You feel tight, but foam rolling and static stretching haven't shifted much

There's no prize for staying tense. Come lie down, breathe, and let your body remember what deep relaxation feels like.

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
