Finding Stillness in the Chaos – Meditation for Beginners

“Meditation is not about stopping thoughts, but recognizing that we are more than our thoughts and our feelings.” – Arianna Huffington

In today’s fast-paced world, meditation is your sanctuary.
As a meditation teacher, I often hear, “I don’t have time.” But here’s the truth: meditation doesn’t require hours of your time—it starts with just a few mindful minutes.

Begin with belly breathing. This is a very simple technique that is easy to adopt.
Place one hand on your stomach, inhale deeply through your nose, and let your belly rise.
Exhale slowly through your mouth, feeling your body relax and your shoulders melt down away from your ears.
This simple practice activates your parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and improving focus.
The ‘focus’ is simple - notice every inhale and exhale. Every rise and fall of your belly.
As thoughts enter your mind as they inevitably do, acknowledge them for a moment, and then on your next exhale, let the thought go.
Repeat for as many times as your thoughts are present.
Meditation is not about emptying your mind—it’s about observing your thoughts without judgment.
Allowing things to be just as they are.
Releasing the need to control things.
Simply noticing with a quiet curiosity.

Create a quiet space for yourself, even if it’s just 5 minutes a day.
Over time, this small habit can lead to big changes in mental clarity and emotional balance.
